He was born in Iowa in 1866 the 3rd child of his father and 1st child of his mother.  Around the time James Alfred Hindman, known as Jim, was 4 years old he and his family moved to Mitchell, Kansas where they lived a number of years.  Sometime after 1885 he and his family moved to Colorado and in 1894 he married Louisa Bradley in Oklahoma.

Jim lived in Oklahoma until his death in 1946.  The Taloga Times-Advocate’s two articles provide quite a bit of information about Jim and his family.

Jim Hindman passed away on Thursday morning at a Tulsa hospital where he had undergone an operation the week before. Having been ill here at his home for several weeks, he went to Tulsa with his children, Lottie and Bill on Sunday, May 26th. He entered the hospital on Tuesday May 28 and had an operation on May 31st. Apparently he was getting along nicely when poisoning set it. Five blood transfusions failed to save him.

His remains were brought to Taloga Friday afternoon in the Assembly of God church where he had been a faithful member since the establishment of the church. Rev Saxelid of Clinton, former pastor and close friend had charge of the services and brought a comforting message to the family.

“Does Jesus Care” and “Safe In The Arms of Jesus” were sung by a quartett composed of Pearl and Florence Beatty, Vina Koehn and Berniece Parson, Vina Koehn sang a solo, “The Heart That Was Broken For Me.”

Flower girls were three of Mr. Hindmana’s daughters in laws, Mrs. Luke Hindman, Mrs. Bill Hindman and Mrs. Otis Hindman; and Mrs. Saxelid of Clinton.

Pearl Beatty read the poem “He Is Just Away”.

Pall bearers were Bart Woods, Waldo Roberts, Doc Lawhorn, Orma Carter, Muriel Zieber and Charley Evans. Honorary pall bearers were Carl Johnson, Harvey Carter, John Ward, Will Roberts, Rudolph Koehn, and Jack Reese. Buriel was made in the Taloga cemetery.

The following children and their families were present at the funeral, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hindman, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Hindman, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hindman, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Skelton all of Tulsa; Mr and Mrs. L.W. Howard of Oakland, California, Clifford Hindman. Only one was missing, Perl Hindman of California.

Other out of town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Creech of Seiling and Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Williams of Cordell.

Mr. Hindman is survived by one sister and one brother, Mrs. Joe Beatty of Foss. absent because of illness and Ray Hindman of Brothern, Michigan.

James Hindman was born on July 2, 1866 and died in the city of Tulsa June 6, 1946 at the age of 79 years 11 months and 4 days.

In the year of 1894 he was united in marriage to Louisa Bradley and to this union were born 12 children.

They moved to Dewey county to a farm in the year of 1898, retired from the farm in 1927 and moved to Taloga where they have continued to reside until his death.

He was converted in 1923 and baptized. He was a member of the Taloga Assembly of God.

He leaves to mourn his absence his wife Mrs. Louisa Hindman, 5 sons, Otis, William, Luke of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pirl of Madera California and Clifford, 3 daughters, Mrs. Eldie Howard, Oakland, California, Mrs. Harold Skelton and Mrs. Arthur Gates of Tulsa, Oklahoma 12 grand children and 4 great grand children and a host of friends.

During his sickness prior to his death he was very patient. He did not complain and passed from this life peacefully.
