The shiny, gold plate that is the size of a salad plate, is in our curio cabinet.  According to my mother-in-law it was a wedding gift to her parents, Elvin Bullard and Elizabeth Garee who were married on November 23, 1930 in Noble, Oklahoma.

I did a bit of research on the plate and discovered that the red Stouffer Studio mark indicates that it was made between 1920 & 1924 (1).  The J&C marking stands for Jaeger & Company and Bavaria is the pattern name (2).   I was hoping to find a value but haven’t been able to find any additional information on this pattern.

The bride, Elizabeth, graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1928 with a master’s degree in government and a minor in history.  She then taught school for a year in a town called Blanchard, Oklahoma while she was waiting for her fiancé, Elvin, to graduate from law school.  After he graduated they were married and moved to Oklahoma City where he began practicing law while she stayed at home and soon became pregnant with their first child.  A few years later they had another child together.  After about 10 years of marriage they divorced.

We have individual photos of Elvin and Elizabeth but no wedding photos or others of their years together.
