Saturday Night Fun with Genea-Musings
Your mission for Father’s Day, if you decide to accept it, is to:
- Determine who is one of the most prolific fathers in your genealogy database or in your ancestry. By prolific, I mean the one who fathered the most children.
- Tell us about him in your own blog post, in comments to this blog post, or in comments on Facebook.
I know the answer to this without looking in my database. It was Albid Nigh Bauman.
Albid was born May 11, 1831 in Lincoln Co, Tennessee. He married Rebecca Stephenson October 26, 1852 in Upshur Co, Texas. They had 11 children and my husband descends from their 8th child, George Washington Bauman. Rebecca died on May 12, 1873.
On November 30, 1873, Albid married Julia Ann Angeline Martha Clementine Lowry nee Higgins (not sure why she had so many names). Julia already had 2 children from a previous marriage then she and Albid had 10 children. Albid died July 12 1891 in Gladwater, Texas and his last child was born April 3, 1892.
Albid had 21 children. I know of only 1 of those that died as an infant. One child I have not been able to learn anything more than when he was born. The remaining 19 children married and likely had families. Tracking down all of Albid’s descendants is an ongoing task.
I have one image of him that is from a tintype. Apparently it was taken on his wedding day to his second wife, neither of whom look particularly friendly or happpy.
