Two photographs in my Defries/Brown pink velvet album may have the same woman in them. I’ve cropped the photos to detail the faces and hand. The photos on the left are of Anje Bosch DeFries nee Bolt (1818-1905) who immigrated to the US in about 1866. She and her family lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I’m wondering if the woman in the photos on the right is also Anje. What do you think, are they the same person? What do you observe?
The full photo on the left is in a previous post entitled “Trying to identify the people”. Below is the full photo of the one on the right. I love that she has her dog with her in the photo.

Yep, I think both images are Anje.

They are certainly quite similar. The forehead shape, eye shape, nose and bottom lip appear to be quite similar although there is a slight variation in the width of the lower face. It also looks like she might be wearing the same earrings in both as well as the same wedding ring. The hair covering in both instances is generally the same; I suppose the hair covering could be something cultural that every woman wore.

I also agree that they are the same. Do you have the earlier picture of Jakob and Anje? I think I only have a zerox and I don’t remember where or if I’ve seen the original.
