In no particular order I’ll write about those I have not yet written about and may have very little on some but will share what I have in order to get something started.

As I write this it is January, which is a month of birthdays in my family and this photo with a birthday cake and many candles (could there be 82 on there?) seems like as good a place as any to begin this challenge.

A few years ago a distant cousin I met online shared a photo of Addie Little with me that seems familiar when I look at it.  Of course, I never knew Addie or her children yet this photo draws me in for some reason.

Addie1932Addie was my biological paternal great, great grandmother.  She was born on April 25, 1848 to Peter B. Allen and Mary Rowena Hoskins in Cove, Polk, Arkansas and her parents named her Mary Adeline Allen.

When Addie and Ervin Anderson Little were both 27 years of age they married in Cove, Polk, Arkansas on February 10, 1876.  Ervin was born in Kentucky and moved to Arkansas sometime after 1870.

Their family grew to 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls, and they lived in Cove, Polk, Arkansas.  One child, Lillie Frances, lived only to be 19.  Their oldest son, Alonzo “Lonnie” Elmer also died before them when he was 46 years old and left minor heirs one of whom was my paternal grandmother.

Addie lived her entire life in Cove, Arkansas and according to her father’s 1901 obituary she lived near his old home. She lived to be 88 years old and is buried with her husband and many other family members at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove.

No Story Too Small offered a challenge: have one blog post each week devoted to a specific ancestor. It could be a story, a biography, a photograph, an outline of a research problem — anything that focuses on one ancestor. Not only should this get me blogging more, but also to take a deeper look at some of the people in my family tree.

Each of my posts for this challenge will include in the title “52 Ancestors Challenge” and will have the tag of 52Ancestors.
