Louisa-thru-the-yearsLouisa was born on Saturday, 4 April 1874, in Wabash County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the Sarah Jane (Johnson) and the John M Bradley.  Louisa moved with her parents to Oklahoma sometime between 1880 and 1894. On November 13, 1894 she married James Alfred Hindman in Lincoln, Dewey, Oklahoma. She and her husband lived most of their lives in Dewey county, Oklahoma and had 10 children.

Her children lived in Oregon, California, and Oklahoma so I imagine visiting them was not a common occurrence.  The photo below must have been taken on a visit to her daughter Rayme Mae McCoy’s Oregon home since the truck has an Oregon license plate and the surroundings look more similar to Oregon than Oklahoma.  Do you suppose wearing heels and a dress is the way Louisa dressed when she worked on the farm?

Louisa Hindman nee Bradley was my biological great grandmother on my father’s side.

No Story Too Small offered a challenge: have one blog post each week devoted to a specific ancestor. It could be a story, a biography, a photograph, an outline of a research problem — anything that focuses on one ancestor.
Each of my posts for this challenge will include in the title “52 Ancestors Challenge” and will have the tag of 52Ancestors.
