John Nash was born in 1777 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania according to the minimal records I have been able to locate.  His son Nathan was also born there in 1810.

In the 1820 census there is a John Nash in Elizabeth, Allegheny, Pennsylvania who is over 45 years of age.  The family has 1 male under 10; 4 females under 10; 1 male 10-15; 1 female 26-44.  This may be the John Nash I’m looking for.

Apparently John moved to Utica, Licking, Ohio where he died about 1838.

I have found no sources to verify who Nathan’s father was.  Some researchers state that Nathan’s father was John Nash, Sr. who was born in 1748.  However, the dates do not seem at all reasonable for that to be accurate.

John Nash was my biological 4th great grandfather on my father’s side.

No Story Too Small offered a challenge: have one blog post each week devoted to a specific ancestor. It could be a story, a biography, a photograph, an outline of a research problem — anything that focuses on one ancestor.
Each of my posts for this challenge will include in the title “52 Ancestors Challenge” and will have the tag of 52Ancestors.
