My jewelry box has items that are heirlooms from my grandmothers, mother, mother-in-law and items that my children, husband and mom have given me through the years. I rotate wearing the items and enjoy recalling the significance of the person who gave it to me and that time in my life. Today, I chose to wear a necklace and earrings that my mom gave me for Christmas in 2008 and she included a note explaining why she chose it. I love it. Today when I pulled it out I hunted for the note to re-read her words. Being able to ‘hear’ her talk to me and tell me she loves may mean even more to me now that she’s gone. Her simple, handwritten note included in the box with the jewelry touches my heart deeply.
